LO: to explore the marketing methods in NTTD.

EXPLAIN WHY THE DELAYED RELEASE OF ' NO TIME TO DIE ' WAS AN ISSUE FOR THE TEAM BEHIND THE MOVIE ?

the delayed release date of no time to die meant that they would have to spend more money on advertising to keep the hype for the movie. the distribution company had so much extra work to do so there product is not outdated and is relevant. they had to remove irrelevant products that were not up do date with the time, which made them reshoot the scenes and update the products shown for the movie scenes.

convergence is the process of multiple media products into one product, an example of this is a phone, it can do the job of multiple media products.

A conglomerate is a company that owns another company or even more companies. an example of a conglomerate is

The film industry markets a new film through the collaborations with other brands, this creates a wider appeal and creates a wider audience as it uses different platform to draw interest and attention towards the film.

an example of character information on the Archers is the website, on the website there is every single piece of information that is related to the character they have clicked on. it also includes who they are related to on the radio station. this can help the audience get closer and feel a connection towards the character to help the audience escape their reality and relate to the Archers.

personal identity

information

  • any information can be learned through different forms of media
  • the media keeps us informed on current events

social interaction

  • media products allow audiences to find role models and other people with similar values
  • media allows insight into other peoples lives
  • the ability of media products to produce a topic of conversation between different people
  • media products allows the audience to break down barriers of time

entertainment

  • uses of media to escape the humdrum of their boring everyday lives

i will use entertainment and gaming for this lesson.

The theory of U and G identified entertainment as an appeal to the audience to keep them entertained and allows them to share emotions with friends using gaming. we can see this in gaming as the wide range of games that are available to the audience like GTA, Roblox, Fortnite etc. this can help the audiences escape their boring lives and their troubles in life. this allows the audience to also to know insights about other peoples lives using gaming. this allows the uses of gratifications to link to gaming.

DO NOW                                                                    30th April 2025

  1. personal identity - audience relates towards the product, having values
  2. information - to keep the audience up to date with events
  3. entertainment - to appeal to the audience to keep them entertained, escape the real world
  4. social interaction - allows the audience to find role models and other people with similar values
  5. PEEL

                             AUDIENCE APPEAL

LO: to apply U&G to NTTD.

the marketing methods that was used for NTTD was collaborations with big brands like Heineken.(E) posters.(S) trailers(E). merchandise(P). billboards(I). websites.(S)

PIES - personal identity, information, entertainment, social interaction

E - action, in NTTD there is a huge amount of gunfire in the film, since gunfire is not apart of everyday life. the fans of the franchise would escape from their boring everyday lives to watch this film because they are escaping from their society into a society where gunfire is apart of an everyday life for James Bond.

P - the theory of uses and gratifications identified personal identity as an appeal towards the audience because the film NTTD will have values that the audience of the franchise will hold to themselves. they use personal identity to get the audience to link towards the film and hold values for the film.

                     FILM INDUSTRY EXAM STRUCTURE

LO: to apply our knowledge to exam style questions.

3A: MGM
3B: a conglomerate is a company which owns other companies, an example of a conglomerate is Disney/ warner bros. (owns production and distribution.)

3C: convergence is when a piece of media is available on different sites/platforms and is available to view, an example of this is Fortnite since its accessible from a variety of websites. ( the film industry can be used also)

3d: technology is used to promote NTTD to the audiences in three ways. they do this to create excitement towards the films release and to potentially create more fans and to make more people want to watch the film. one way they have done this is the movie trailer. the movie trailer shows the audience sneak peeks of the film and to create interest and excitement for the films release to build a fanbase for NTTD. they used technology to use the internet to post the movie trailer online onto online services like youtube to promote the film to the audience and to gain attraction and hype for the film.

Another way that NTTD was promoted using technology is the Billie Eilish track. the track can be heard using a radio, apps like youtube and Spotify. they have made sure that this is posted online to alert the audiences of what artist are going to be featured in the film and what songs will also feature. this can create new fans of the franchise. if people like the artist Billie Eilish and see that she is featured in the film. they would want to watch the film.

The Last way they used technology

4a; media producers categorise their audiences into categories of certain aspects. this includes age and gender

4b: action, relatable characters, 12A

NTTD targets the audience by using action, they use action to make unrealistic scene to excite the viewer, they use guns, car chases, explosions that are used in a way to keep the viewer engaged throughout the film from the beginning with the opening scene from the end. they do this to attract the audience.

4c: users visiting the 007 website can be linked towards the uses of gratifications, social interaction can be linked to this because it might help users that link themselves to a specific character find other people that link themselves towards the same character. it can help find new groups or start new conversations
